where in the world is...

This was a great idea lifted from Regan's blog! Thanks Rae! This is really neat. It reminds me of all the places I *haven't* been and should be going to! By the end of the summer, some of those grey East coast countries in the states will be painted red too! Because Becky and I will be painting the town of NYC red!
North America and Europe... that's it?! I need to broaden my horizons! I'd love to visit some of those South American countries... and Japan would be fun... so many places left to see (in fact, I've only visited 5% of the world!)
You, too, can find out where you've been: in the states and in the world...

Montreal in March

We were in Montreal this past weekend; Daryan was doing business, I was marking papers (better to mark in a Montreal hotel room than in my living room in Kitchener, right?)
... views from my hotel room ...

I just love this Five Roses sign.

I did manage to sneak out of my marking hovel for some fun, though! Amy and Jon took me out for poutine at a diner in their neighbourhood, and then we went to the art gallery. The Once Upon a Time Walt Disney: The Sources of Inspiration for the Disney Studios show was one of the highlights of my trip. We saw some Beatrix Potter sketches, some Waterhouse and Grimshaw Pre-Raphaelite paintings, a Brueghel painting, and also a Salvador Dali and Walt Disney collaboration animation project... how cool is that??

Daryan and I also partied it up at the fancy dress ball on the Saturday night.
... here we are on the dance floor ...

blue mountain

hello all,

yes, i know, i haven't posted in quite some time... work, and applying to other works, is starting to really pick up and take some of my blog time away. today i begin marking 60 poetry essays. so, today's post will be rather short... just a 'let-you-know-that-i'm-still-here' post, really :)

yesterday was my brother's birthday, and daryan and i and my family spent the weekend in collingwood for some skiing. the weather was perfect for it and i got in a solid afternoon of downhill skiing... great fun. blue mountain is almost like a mini-whistler, so we were able to get some quaint shopping done too. notably? i stocked up on some l'occitane products... mmmm...

maybe some pictures later...
