Summer Day Trip #1: The Elora Gorge

Daryan's parents are in town for a visit this week, so we have started our adventures exploring areas near us in southwestern Ontario! Yesterday we went to the quaint town of Elora. Settled in the early 1800s by Scottish pioneers, Elora started as a grist mill town - the town lies at the crux of two merging rivers and a waterfall. The scenery is spectacular. In the 1960s, it became a haven for crafters and artisans. Today, the town boasts many craft stores, art galleries, and quaint shops.

Some of the photos from our adventures are below:

Here I am posing in front of the old grist mill turned inn and restaurant.

This is Daryan wading and playing with baby fishes in the gorge river bed.

Here are some of the neat things I purchased: a handmade "prickly pear" mockingbird tote, a Cath Kidston mini tissue package, and some French milled soaps. mmmm.

Did you go take Daryan's parents tubing through the gorge? Makes for a nice lazy day on the river...

I love Elora. I've always wanted to move there, but alas I am stuck in this concrete jungle (for now at least). Maybe one day!
