Knitting Pretty

And the rains are starting here in Vancouver, and I'm currently not working; so, this all gives me the perfect opportunity to stay home and cuddled up by the fireplace to work on craft projects. Most notably, I'm starting my first sweater project ever! (in pint size!) I'm using this beautiful Debbie Bliss cathay yarn that feels like heaven to the finger tips (cotton/silk blend) and it's knit in the round to make it just seamless. I only have yet to figure out why I turned out to be purling all the time instead of knitting (it makes it difficult to add new yarn balls to the work - suggestions?).

Hey Jill;

It's Julia (I work with your Mom). If you are purling in the round it means you are working your sweater with the inside out...if you want to be knitting rather than purling, stop at the beginning of your round so you have even rounds. Turn the work inside out and pick up a stitch from below, twist it and knit it together while changing directions. (Does that make sense?) You don't want to just turn it inside out and change directions without picking up a stitch as you will end up with a little hole in your sweater. Another option might be to get to the end of a round, turn the work inside out so you have the knit side outside, slip a stitch, wrap it and reverse your direction...hope I haven't confused you...another option is to go to the LYS where you bought your yarn for some hands-on advice...
