what is a salt pig?

to all my readers: (thanks for leaving comments guys ;)
a salt pig is an old fashioned receptacle for salt! it's a handy thing to keep on the counter in case you need a pinch or spoonful of salt while cooking. it is especially useful for larger grain salt that doesn't come out through the shaker. also, it is useful for keeping the salt dry(apparently?) ... altho i've never had a soggy salt problem, per se!

Thanks for the explanation - I still don't believe that I have a need for one, but I'm glad that you're enjoying yours!

Thanks Jill. I guess they call it a pig because of its shape. You seem to have everything a gal could ever want...what on earth will I give you for your wedding present?!!? ;)
