wow. busy day today. first thing in the morning, daryan and i went to the westin spa (the sister resort of our hotel); daryan had a man's volcanic pedicure, and i had a french manicure. at this resort there were many exotic bird. at the right are some pics of the flamingos and parrots.
in the later morning, we went to lahaina for some shopping and some museum-going. we went to this heritage house where the first american missionaries came to convert the 'heathens' of hawaii. eventually this family (the baldwins) came to own almost all of maui's land, resorts, as well as the sugar cane industry of hawaii. the home had many original pieces from this family.

daryan and i went to a famous restaurant called "cheeseburger in paradise" for lunch in Lahaina (the town close to here). we ate on the top level overlooking the wharf and the water. d. had a gigantic beef cheeseburger and i opted for the turkey burger. both were delicious. above are some shots from the restaurant.

at the left are some random shots of birds from around our resort. i gather that they are relatives of sparrows and/or morning doves. some are so used to touists that they'll eat right out of your hand. it's actually sort of sad to see. but, i prefer tiny sparrows hopping around compared to sea gulls!! (strangely, there are no seagulls here).

Jill, I'm so jealous. Hawaii looks beautiful and it sounds like you're having such a great time. Enjoy the fun and sun!
